Cumulus

Today marks the second day of the, albeit rather late, September cloud diary! For each of the remaining days of September I’ll be posting a few photos, no matter how plain, in the hope that by the end of the month, I’ll have a kind of storyboard to compare and contrast recent cloud patterns.

Following on from yesterday’s Cirrus Spissatus, the second part of this mini documentation consists of a mix of cumulus clouds, primarily mediocris and fractus. Although they are extremely common, cumulus clouds are also diverse in their shape, texture and size, as you can see in the photos below. Taken at 4pm, Saturday 9 September.

Cumulus can also crescendo into other cloud types such as cumulonimbus. Check out an example of this happening below:
